When did you last look in your loft?
Many lofts I see were insulated decades ago. Over time the material compresses, gets moved about and stops doing its job.
Current guidance is around 270mm of mineral wool insulation. Many older lofts have a fraction of that. On the survey I measure yours so you know where you stand.
Topping it up keeps more heat in your rooms, makes the house feel warmer and helps bring your heating bills down.

I'm Dean Knowles, and I've spent nearly 30 years in the home improvement industry, visiting homeowners and seeing first-hand what good and bad work looks like.
I set up Knowles Services to do loft work the way I'd want it done in my own home: honestly, tidily and properly.

What happens on the free survey?
I come to your home, protect your floors with shoe covers and dust sheets, then check and measure your loft insulation, check the ventilation so damp can't build up, and take photos. I explain what I find in plain English and give you a fixed, no-obligation quote. There's no pressure: you decide in your own time.
Which areas do you cover?
All of Essex and London. If you're not sure whether you're covered, call or send the form and I'll let you know.
Who does the work?
I do. I survey every loft and do every job myself, so you deal with me from first call to finished job. I'm fully insured and DBS-checked, and I show you my paperwork before I go into your loft.
How much does loft insulation cost?
Loft insulation top-ups start from £500. The price depends on the size of your loft and what it needs, for example whether old insulation has to be cleared first. After the survey you get one fixed price, so there are no surprises.
When do I pay?
Nothing upfront. You only pay once the job is complete and you're happy with it.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
Both the materials and my workmanship, for ten years.
